A friend of greberadio.com contributed this picture of the new Grebe Radio factory from Radio News, September, 1922. Notice the Grebe Radio delivery truck off to the right.
On August 12, 2004 an honorary plaque was placed on the factory building by the Richmond Hill Historical Society. The building is now used as part of the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.
Present for the dedication were Nancy Cataldi, President of the Richmond Hill Historical Society, Alfred H. Grebe’s son, Alfred H. Grebe, Jr. (second from left), and grandson, George D. Meier (third from left), and Bruce J. Flanz Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Jamaica Hospital Medical Center standing in front of the new plaque mounted on the old Grebe Radio factory building.
The text of the commemorative plaque reads:

Flickr is a free photo posting community, part of what is known as the user-contributed Web 2.0 style sites. Stumbled upon a few Grebe CR-12 Radio photos, where the poster has been kind enough to link back to this site as well.

Grebe CR-18 The Choice Of Explorers

Gordon MacCreagh “The Incorrigible Explorer” packed a CR-18 on his expedition into Abyssinia to hunt for the Ark of the Coventant in 1927. From an article published online by Peter Ruber:
“Amateur radio operators who have picked up messages from Arctic explorers and from the Dyott expedition now following Theodore Roosevelt’s trail down the River of Doubt through the jungles of Brazil are likely to hear dispatches from Gordon MacCreagh, exploring in Abyssinia.
“When Gordon MacCreagh, American explorer, left New York on the Abyssinian expedition, Feb. 10, long and short wave radio traveled with him. Some of the equipment carried was that which Commander Richard E. Byrd took in his airplane on his successful flight over the North Pole.
“This apparatus consisted of a broadcast receiver, and a CR-18 short-wave set designed by A. H. Grebe & Co., Inc. The short-wave transmitting equipment to be used by the expedition will be of British make. Although the operator who will accompany the expedition has not yet been chosen, it is said he will be picked up in England on the way to Abyssinia.

This small photo appears to be of an A. H. Grebe & Co. Synchrophase SK4 model radio manufactured in 1928. It has a fine wooden cabinet and elegant details. Below is a close up photo of the tuning dial.
